USS Tigers no match for the Trinity Titans

Playing in a steady rain that never let up, the Uxbridge Secondary School Tigers were hard-pressed to stop Holy Trinity Titans' strong ground game in Courtice last Thursday. There were few pass attempts by either quarterback, given the wet conditions.
The two teams were soaked before the game even began, since the game start was delayed for an hour and the players warmed up in the rain.
The Tigers had their moments in the first half, such as scoring a touchdown, intercepting a Holy Trinity pass and recovering a Titans' fumble. Quarterback Evan Coughlan connected with Everett Mank on a 20-yard pass late in the second quarter, but the Tigers were unable to reach the goal-line for a second TD. However, the Tigers also failed on an attempted two-point conversion on their TD.
But Holy Trinity dominated early in the game, scoring two touchdowns to end the half at 14-6.
The third quarter saw the Titans score another touchdown on a 10-yard pass, but they failed on the two-point conversion. Then Holy Trinity recovered their own kick-off and ran into the end zone for another touchdown. Yet again, the attempted two-point conversion failed.
In the last 10 minutes of the fourth, the Tigers made a compelling march down the field, but were unable to come up with a score.
The final score was Holy Trinity 26, Uxbridge Tigers 6.
The Tigers will be back in action today (Thursday) when they take a short trip south to meet Brooklin High School at 2 p.m.
