The Mole Mobile rolls into Uxbridge this weekend

Summer is the time for extreme sun exposure, which can lead to various skin diseases, including skin cancer. Melanoma Canada has recently announced a new initiative called The Mole Mobile, a mobile skin cancer screening unit, and it’s coming to Uxbridge this Saturday, June 21.
Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., members of the public are invited to drop by Williamson Uxbridge GM for a skin check performed by a certified Canadian dermatologist, no appointment needed. For those unable to make The Mole Mobile’s visit on Saturday, there will be one held in Port Perry on Friday, June 20, at Haugen's Chicken & Ribs Barbeque, on Hwy. 12, just south of Manchester, also between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
According to Melanoma Canada, The Mole Mobile is “a ground-breaking initiative that underscores the importance of skin cancer. The Mole Mobile will visit major Canadian cities with long wait times to see a dermatologist, underserved communities, rural and Indigenous regions to help speed up the time to diagnosis, which is vital to improving outcomes for patients.
“Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Canada, yet access to dermatologists remains a challenge. With two Mole Mobile units hitting the road in 2025, we are expanding our reach and breaking down even more barriers to early detection.”
This year's tour will operate with the support and partnership of the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA), bringing certified Canadian dermatologists to communities across British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and Ontario to conduct skin cancer screenings, as well as provide education on skin cancer prevention and the importance of early detection to improve outcomes.
