Arrest made in attempted break-and-enter

A 50-year-old male has been arrested for attempting to break into a house in Uxbridge.

According to the Durham Regional police, on June 3, DRPS responded to a break-and-enter in progress call in the area of Hwy. 47 and Goodwood Road. The suspect attempted to gain entry into the residence, causing extensive damage to the exterior and several vehicles in the driveway. The residents were home at the time; however, no physical injuries have been reported.

The suspect fled prior to police arrival but was identified shortly after.

Members of North Community Response Unit arrested the suspect without incident.

Brian Maschke, 50, of Toronto, is charged with: Break-and-Enter Dwelling House with Intent, Mischief / Damage Property Over $5000 x 4, Uttering Threats, Fail to comply with Undertaking, Disobey lawful order of court.

He was held for a bail hearing.
