Regional survey wants feedback on voting for Chair
Durham Regional council announced Monday that it looking for public feedback on the provincial government’s recent decision to appoint regional chairs, rather than have them elected.
Following a motion passed on April 29, Durham Regional council is inviting residents to share their views on Bill 100, the Better Regional Governance Act, 2026, which is the proposed provincial legislation that changes how the regional chair is selected.
Residents are encouraged to complete the survey at durham.ca/Bill100. The survey will be open from May 4 to 18.
The regional council says that public input will help inform regional council’s understanding of community perspectives on Bill 100. Survey results will be summarized in a public Council Information Package and forwarded to the Province of Ontario for consideration.
The survey is only open to Durham Region residents and takes only a few minutes to complete, as it is only two questions.
