Masters Swim Team performs well at Windsor championship

Submitted by Beverley David

The Uxbridge Masters Swim Team recently made a splash at the Speedo Masters Championship 2026 in Windsor, competing against teams from across Canada and the United States.

Representing Uxbridge were Amy Archer, Amanda Brunet, Beverley David, Eric Denz, Sarah Fournier, Dennis Milenov, Laura Tully, and Sheri Walter, led by coach and Olympic swimmer Zsofi Balazs.

Out of 77 teams, Uxbridge finished 31st overall after three days of racing.

The team brought home 26 top 10 individual finishes and two podium performances. Dennis Milenov powered his way to a bronze medal in the 100m Butterfly, while Sheri Walter surged to bronze in the 100m Backstroke. The relay teams also put in strong performances, finishing 5th and 7th in highly competitive events.

Beyond the results, the championship was filled with personal bests, team spirit, laughter, and plenty of stories to bring home. Whether chasing medals, racing old friends, or achieving new goals, every swimmer contributed to a memorable weekend.

The team is now looking forward to the completion of the new Uxbridge Pool. Until then, the Uxbridge Masters continue to train three times a week - Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays - under the guidance of coach Zsofi. New swimmers are always welcome, whether you're returning to the sport or looking for a fun way to stay active.
