Farms are fun, but they’re also dangerous. Injuries and even deaths can be prevented by following simple safety precautions. Progressive Agriculture Safety Days help children who live on or visit farms to develop an awareness of farm hazards and to develop a life-long, positive attitude towards farm safety.
Durham Farm & Rural Family Resources presents a Progressive Agriculture Safety Day on Sat., May 30 at the Port Perry Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. This morning of interactive learning is open to children aged 5-15 years. There will be demonstrations on tractor, equine, grain, ATV, fire, helmet, chainsaw and electrical safety. Registration is $5 or $10/family. Participants can pre-register (spaces are limited) at durhamfamilyresources.org/events/safety-day-for-kids or by contacting onfarm@durhamfamilyresources.org
