Township bridge to undergo construction starting Monday

Beginning next Monday, Siloam Bridge will be under construction, rendering a portion of Regional Road 8 closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

The Regional Municipality of Durham recently announced that two bridge replacements will take place in the Township of Uxbridge over the next two years. Siloam Bridge, located on Reg. Rd. 8, approximately 3.3 kilometres east of York Durham Line (Reg. Rd. 30), and the Laurie Bridge located on Zephyr Road (Reg. Rd. 13), approximately three kilometres west of Reg. Rd. 1, are both slated for construction.

Work on Siloam Bridge begins one June 2, and the Region says it anticipates the work will be completed by November of this year. The work for the Laurie Bridge replacement will begin in May 2026, with anticipated completion by November 2026. Advanced guiderail work will be completed at Laurie Bridge this summer.

Reg. Rd. 8 will be closed locally with no vehicle or pedestrian access permitted across the Siloam bridge from June 9 until November 2025. Traffic will be detoured onto York Durham Line, Sandford Road and Reg. Rd. 1. Local traffic and emergency access will be maintained at all times utilizing the detour routes.

Zephyr Road will be closed locally with no vehicle or pedestrian access permitted across the bridge from May 2026 until November 2026. Further notices will be provided detailing closure dates and detour routes closer to the date.

The Region says that businesses will remain open for the duration of construction. The Region says recognizes there may be potential impacts during the work.
