Swim kids meet senior supporters

A group of young swimmers faced a number of questions from a roomful of seniors last Saturday when the Uxbridge Swim Club made a brief visit to Shobrook Gardens to give an update on their activities.

It was the swim club's way of thanking Shobrook for its support through the years. Club president Scott Briggs gave a brief history of the swim club, founded in 1986 by Terry and Mary Bryon, and listed the various accomplishments of the club, the organization's growth, coaching, fundraising and the future new pool facility.

The young swimmers - some of whom had just come from practice - were asked what they had learned or gained from their membership in USC. One said the club had given him lots of friends while another said competing with the club made her feel more confident. Another suggested she had learned about teamwork and dedication.

One young girl drew a round of laughter with her answer about her goals. She said her goal was to get to 5:30 a.m. practice on time.
