Single vehicle crash injures two

Two young men were injured last Wednesday, Nov. 19, in a single vehicle accident west of Uxbridge.
According to a Durham Regional Police Service news release, a 22-year-old male and his 20-year-old male passenger were seriously injured after the collision, which occurred in the area of York Durham Line and Aurora Road.
The release says the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Aurora Road when it crossed the intersection at York Durham Line, continuing eastbound onto a private road. The vehicle entered the private road at a high rate of speed leaving the roadway into a large field.
The 22-year-old male driver and his 20-year-old male passenger were transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre. The 22-year-old male sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 20-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A DRPS report on Nov. 21 announced that the 20-year-old succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
