Bruins edged by Georgina Ice for second loss

Last Friday's match-up at the arena between the Uxbridge Bruins and the Georgina Ice was a fast-paced well-played game by both teams, but the Ice ended up edging the Bruins 2-1.
The first period was end-to-end action with only one penalty called and no scoring.
The Bruins took the lead five minutes into the second period when Ryan Shier found the Georgina net on a power play, with Jack Kemp assisting. However, the Bruins were unable to capitalize on a four-minute minor handed out to the Ice a minute later. With only four minutes remaining in the period, the Ice's Sebastien Ferris scored on a sharp-angled shot.
Halfway through the third period, it was Georgina's turn to score on the power play. The Bruins pulled goalie Robbie DiMaria for an extra attacker as the period wound down but they were unable to score the equalizer.
It was only the second loss of the season for the Bruins, the first one coming a week ago to the same Georgina Ice. The Bruins record now stands at 16 wins and two losses, putting them in first place, four points ahead of the Ice.
The Bruins return to action tonight (Thursday) when they visit the third-place Clarington Eagles before hosting the Port Perry LumberJacks at the arena tomorrow at 7:45 p.m.
Bear pause: The Bruins played last week without Nolan Winter and Tyler Laita in the lineup. Winter has been traded to the Clarington Eagles and will face his former teammates tonight. In his 16 games with the Bruins this season, Winter scored six goals and eight assists. Defenceman Laita has been traded to the Alliston Hornets.
At the start of last Friday's game, the Bruins were led onto the ice by eight-year-old Callan Teefy carrying a Bruins flag. Teefy, who plays with the U9 Brock Wild, was celebrating his birthday.
