Service Awards Day at council on Monday

Several Uxbridge firefighters were presented with long service awards at the start of Monday’s council meeting.

Honoured for 25 years of service was Mark Geer. Deputy fire chief Mike McCullough and Darryl Noble received awards for 15 years of service, while Dane Evans and Andrew Allison were recognized for 10 years of service. Receiving five-year pins were Mitchel Ferraro, Clinton Harper, Luke Hurlburt and Kevin Marden.

Fire department office staffers Millie Barrett and Sandra Ridley received certificates for 15 years, although Ridley has been on the job 17 years and Barrett 16 years.

Christine MacKenzie, who runs the annual Brook Never Sleeps event, and Carly McDougall of Bounty From The Boonies were presented with Environmental Achievement Awards, as were the 1st Uxbridge Scouts.
