Four-way stop signs will be installed as soon as possible at the intersection of Concession 6 and Davis Drive, but further south, at Old Stouffville Road, no signs are going up.

In a report to council on Monday, Public Works director Courtney Clarke said that “four-way stop controls” will be installed at Conc. 6 and Davis Dr. as soon as the weather allows. However, despite council also approving four-way stop signs at the intersection of Conc. 6 and Old Stouffville Rd., Clarke said she did not recommend proceeding with stop signs at that intersection because there was no indication of any safety concerns.

The report also noted that discussions regarding potential access locations to the Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park “may influence future traffic patterns in this area,” and said that installing permanent traffic controls at that location now may not be an appropriate long term solution.

Clarke also said that opportunities to improve visibility at the intersection would be looked at, including the possible removal of vegetation.

“We’re going to look at what we can do cosmetically to make visibility a little bit better,” said Mayor Dave Barton.
