Saturday, Nov. 8 provides the opportunity to experience this award-winning musician as she shares the stories and history of Métis people in song. Rheaume will perform with special guest Kyler Tapscott. Doors open at 7 p.m., with showtime at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35.
The Greenbank Folk Music Society offers folk music in an intimate setting - the Greenbank Centennial Hall - that connects the audience with talented musicians and storytellers.
According to the Greenbank Folk Music Society, “Amanda Rheaume’s commitment as an advocate for the Indigenous music community runs deep, driven by her musical talent and Métis heritage.” Rheaume spoke to Amplify (National Music Centre) before the spring 2025 release of her sixth album, “The Truth We Hold.”
“All the songs are true stories about real Métis. These are stories most people would never know — or have probably never heard — so it’s such an honour to get to write these songs and share these stories,” she said. “Hopefully, people learn from them and gain a greater understanding of where Métis people come from and who we are.”
Rheaume is the recipient of the 2024 Spirit of Folk Award, 2023 Canadian Folk Music Award for Indigenous songwriter of the Year and the 2023 Capital Music Awards’ Album of the Year.
She will perform with special guest Kyler Tapscott, a guitar talent and session player who recently toured with her in Australia.
The show will open with guitarist and singer-songwriter Mark Thackway, who has been recording and touring for almost four decades.
