Election results will be almost instant

There will be no gathering of candidates and public at the community hall at the Uxbridge arena on election night. In the past, election results were posted intermittently on a TV screen as the votes were counted. But not this year.

Since this municipal election will see all voting done online, the results will be known almost immediately after polling closes. Laura Rupprecht, legislative coordinator at the township offices, said as soon as the results are known they will be posted on the township web page.

Voting will begin next Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 9 a.m. and votes can be cast until 8 p.m. on Oct. 26. For those requiring assistance, help will be available at the township offices, the Uxbridge library, the Goodwood Community Centre on Oct. 15, and the Zephyr Community Centre on Oct. 22.

Voters are reminded to check and ensure they are on the Voters’ List before Oct. 9. Check at uxbridge.voterservices.ca or call 905-852-9181. If information needs to be added or updated, visit the Township offices at 51 Toronto St. S.

Voter Information Letters will be sent out shortly, containing information necessary to vote online.

Every position on council is being contested, with three running for mayor, two for regional councillor and 13 for the various wards.
