Councillor to undergo workplace training

In a report presented to council on Monday, Chief Administrative Officer Kristi Honey recommended that councillor Todd Snooks undergo a three-hour training session called “Expectations in an Evolving Workplace.”

The recommendation follows a report by the Integrity Commissioner last year that found Snooks's actions regarding female staff at the Township constituted "harassing behaviour and a lack of respect in the workplace." That finding came after an investigation into allegations of unsolicited physical contact with Township staff.

Honey said the in-person training for Snooks will be based on the Integrity Commissioner's prepared Statement of Work (SOW) and will involve the delivery of a structured, in-person training session for Snooks. Honey said the session is not punitive in nature and is being advanced as a team development initiative.

"The proposed training is intended to support strengthening respectful conduct, communication, and professional interactions, while reinforcing public confidence in municipal governance," the report said.

Honey also recommended that the training for Snooks be incorporated into new council orientation sessions when a new council is installed after the Oct. 26 municipal election.
