Bruins come through for cancer drive

One of the winners at last Friday's Bruins-Eagles game at the arena was a 17-year-old from Bowmanville.

Adam Foreman is a cancer survivor who collects toys for children in the cancer ward at SickKids Hospital. Foreman, who has recovered from the cancer he developed in 2016, says he has supplied around 1,600 toys to the hospital in the last five years.

Bruins general manager Trevor Cox said the Clarington Eagles asked if the Bruins would hold a toy drive for Foreman but the Bruins had to decline because they hold their own toy drive later in the year for Christmas. Instead, the Bruins offered to donate the proceeds from their 50-50 draw and chuck-a-puck contest.

The Bruins made $222 on the 50-50 draw, but the winner of the draw, Bruins fan Kevin Kingston, donated his winnings to the cause. That, plus the chuck-a-puck money, added up to close to $500, which Foreman will use to buy more toys.
