Bruins back to winning ways

As the 2025-26 regular season approaches its end, the Uxbridge Bruins scored two much needed wins on the weekend. With victories over the Clarington Eagles and the Little Britain Merchants, the Bruins maintained their spot atop the PJHL's Orr Division with the Georgina Ice nipping at their heels.

Facing the Eagles at the arena on Friday, the Bruins scored three power-play goals as they skated to a 4-0 win. The first came five minutes into the first period, courtesy of Josh Hall, assisted by Tucker Roberts and Kyle Butt. Four minutes later, Roberts notched his own power-play marker, assisted by Tyson Lotton and Jordan Fitger.

At the halfway point of the second period, the Bruins found themselves with a two-man advantage for almost two minutes, leading to the third power-play goal, scored by Ryan Shier, with assists going to Benson Moore and Roberts. Shortly afterwards, Luke Kemp took a double minor, leaving the Bruins short-handed for four minutes, but the Eagles were not able to score. Halfway through Kemp's penalty, Butt joined him in the penalty box, giving Clarington a two-man edge for 94 seconds, but, once again, the Eagles failed to find the net. As the period wound down, Evan Gilbert finished the scoring with an unassisted marker.

In Little Britain the following night, the Merchants took the lead with a goal late in the first period. Early into the second, Jack Kemp tied the score, assisted by Moore and Jordan Fitger. It wasn't until late in the period that Roberts put the Bruins ahead, assisted by Jack Kemp.

The third period saw goals by Hall, with Butt and Devin Hollands assisting, and by Luke Kemp, assisted by Shier and Roberts.

Sunday's scheduled game in Caledon against the Golden Hawks was postponed because of the weather, as were eight other games around the PJHL. Tonight (Thursday), the Bruins head to Schomberg to take on the Cougars, returning tomorrow night to host the Port Perry LumberJacks.

Bear pause: Friday's game against the LumberJacks will see the return of the Bruins' Teddy Bears Toss after years of being put on hold. Fans are asked to bring a new teddy bear (preferably wrapped in clear plastic) to be tossed onto the ice when the Bruins score their first goal. All the teddy bears will be collected and donated to the SickKids Hospital in Toronto, along with the proceeds of the night's Chuck-a-Puck and 50-50 contests.
