Residents venturing into the downtown area during the afternoon this Saturday should be warned: there is a danger of being overcome by an abundance of cuteness.
From 1 p.m. until 6 p.m., a large number of stores and businesses will be handing out Halloween goodies to crowds of princesses, fairies, superheroes and witches who will be wandering along the annual Trick-or-Treat Trail, sponsored by the Uxbridge BIA. At least 20 establishments along Brock Street will be ready with the treats, along with about a dozen others running down Toronto Street to the south end retail sector.
Motorists are urged to drive in the downtown area with extra caution during the event. Also, some reminders for trick or treating on Saturday evening: Keep porch lights on only if you are actively participating and have candy to give. Remove trip hazards, extension cords, and burning candles from your walkways and porch. Use battery-operated lights instead of real flames. If you’re walking, carry a flashlight or wear reflective material so drivers can spot you easily in the dark, and Keep pets indoors, secure, and away from the front door and chocolate, which is toxic to animals.
