Art festival returning to Historical Centre

Submitted by Jane Butler

The long-running Uxbridge Art on the Fringe Festival is back again this year, returning to the Uxbridge Historical Centre on Sept. 19 and 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Art enthusiasts are invited to revel in the creativity of over 50 emerging and established local artists. Their banquet of artistic productivity includes paintings, sculptures, ceramics, fibre arts, jewellery and more. Many of the artists will be on-site to discuss their work. All the exhibits and parking are fully accessible.

As well as browsing and chatting with the artists, guests can enjoy coffee and pastries from The Wandering Brew food truck; kids can do drawing and painting right on the papered table; and there will be live music all day in the gazebo, featuring a variety of local musicians.

Visiting Art on the Fringe also includes access to the Uxbridge Historical Centre and its many interesting exhibits. Parking is available in the Museum lot on Concession 6 south of the main building.

The Uxbridge Art on the Fringe Festival is presented by Artists of Uxbridge, a local collective that creates, teaches, promotes and supports art in the community. Members and their work can be found inside and outside the Historical Centre’s church and schoolhouse buildings. New members at all levels are always welcome.
