USS Tigers still looking for first win

Both the junior and senior teams of the USS Tigers football program are still looking for their first win of the season as they lost games to the Brooklin HS Bears last Friday.

With at least a couple of hundred fans on hand for the annual Friday Night Under the Lights event, the junior squad was slammed with a 39-0 loss, while the senior team lost 18-9.

In the junior game, Brooklin took the lead in the first quarter when they recovered a Tiger fumble and marched down the field for a touchdown. The Tigers took over and staged their own march downfield with an impressive combination of passing and running, but an attempted pass into the end zone was intercepted.

In the second quarter, the Bears scored again on another drive and then recovered the kickoff, which led to another touchdown.

The Bears hit the end zone again in the third, and twice more in the fourth for a 39-0 score.

Several Tigers required attention from the trainer during the game, including a player who left with a separated shoulder. Eloise Kock, the only girl player in the loop, also required attention for an injury.

The senior team fared a little better, but still lost 18-9.

The juniors were scheduled to be back in action today (Thursday) against O'Neill in Oshawa.
