Heritage designations coming to town
It appears that more local properties may become heritage buildings.
In a report to council, chief planner Cody Morrison and senior building inspector Jake Locke proposed that seven downtown properties be designated as heritage properties. They came up with the list because of changes to the Ontario Heritage Act.
The pair recommended that the heritage appellation be considered for 32 First Avenue, 37 First Avenue, 41 First Avenue, 50 First Avenue, 13 Young Street, 23 Franklin Street and 70 Main Street South.
The report said the Township currently has 18 properties listed as heritage buildings, including the Uxbridge Public Library, the Uxbridge Train Station and the Thomas Foster Memorial.
