Solid goaltending behind Bruins' success

For the last three home games, the Cosmos has selected Uxbridge Bruins goalies as player of the game for the home squad. That includes last Friday night's game against their archrivals, the Port Perry LumberJacks, when Robbie DiMaria earned his third shutout of the season as the Bruins won 3-0.
The win extended their season-opening win streak to 12 games.
Darin Bain opened the scoring midway on a power play through the first period, assisted by newcomer Jordan Fitger and Jack Kemp. Later in the period, the Bruins survived a four-minute penalty handed out to Tanner Ryan for spearing.
In the second period, Ryan Shier made it 2-0 with only nine seconds remaining, assisted by Nolan Winter.
Fitger, making his mark in his first game, scored the third goal in the third period assisted by Tyson Lotton. Tempers flared somewhat as the game wound down, with a skirmish resulting in two Bruins and three LumberJacks being sent to the dressing rooms.
Coach Dan West said that, despite the Bruins record so far, the team is always trying to improve.
"Lessons can be learned in defeat, but also in victories," West said, commending his team for being "hard working."
He also attributed the winning streak to the fact that the Bruins are buying into the idea they are part of a family.
The Bruins are back in action tomorrow night (Friday) when they host the so-far winless Caledon Golden Hawks at 7:45 p.m. Children wearing Halloween costumes will be allowed into the game for free. The following day, the Bruins head to Little Britain to face the Merchants and then travel to Schomberg next Thursday before returning home.
