A somewhat smaller crowd than usual attended the Remembrance Day observance at the Uxbridge cenotaph on Tuesday, perhaps because of the minus-1 temperature. There also appeared to be fewer veterans on hand for the occasion.

There were only a few public school children present, but a small group of pupils from the Montessori School read a poem they had written for the occasion. As well, a student was chosen to read the traditional In Flanders Fields.

On Monday, Uxbridge Secondary School held its yearly Remembrance Day observance. with the school's gymnasium packed. Attended by all members of council, as well as by Education Minister Paul Calandra, the program focused heavily on women in the armed services. Two local women — Sherrill Hodgson and Jacqueline Laszlo — who are both veterans spoke to the assembly about their experiences in the Canadian Armed Forces.
