Senior township official retiring

Amanda Ferraro, Uxbridge's director of parks, recreation, culture and tourism, will be retiring from her position next summer.

Her retirement next June will follow completion of the new Uxpool, currently under construction.

"I've been looking at when the best time to go would be," she said, adding the finish of the new pool would be appropriate.

Ferraro said she has been with the Township for over 30 years, having started out as a lifeguard at Uxpool.

Ferraro’s career saw her grow into increasingly senior leadership roles, during which she expanded recreation programming, helped develop new camps and community activities and led major facility, accessibility, heritage, and park projects across Uxbridge.

Ferraro is also a member of the Township's emergency operations centre, supporting response to such events as the COVID-19 pandemic, the derecho that roared through town in 2022 and, most recently, the library fire response.
