Office building in town could become apartments

Roger Varley, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter

A report by township planning consultant Elizabeth Howson, presented to council on Monday, recommends allocating wastewater and water services to the office block at Brock and Victoria to enable the building to be turned into apartments.

Howson said that would enable the development of the existing five storey office building into a mixed-use residential apartment building with ground floor commercial uses. She said 48 apartment units are proposed for the second to fifth storeys.

She noted that the wastewater and water services allocation would be granted on condition that the development proceed within a year.
