North Durham Chamber of Commerce makes its presence known in Uxbridge

It’s been almost six months. That’s how long I have been executive director at the business beehive known as the North Durham Chamber of Commerce.

The goal of the North Durham Chamber of Commerce (NDCC) is to bring more rural businesses and townships into the protective bubble of a chamber of commerce: to advocate, to help, to promote, and to build a resilient economic landscape here in North Durham. The new NDCC website is underway, so stay tuned!

When I took on this position, I threw myself in the deep end, watching TV segments about federal support for local businesses, having conversations with Uber about rideshare programs to support a stable workforce, tourism, and our loyal communities, as well as conducting deep discussions about tourism and further promotion of what our towns have to offer. I have not been sitting on my hands, and I wanted our members and communities to know that!

Now, of course I have been planning fun things too! We hosted a Mayor's Breakfast Rise and Nine Golf Tournament with Mayor Dave Barton and Foxbridge Golf Course back in June. I’ve been working with the Uxbridge BIA, tourism, and all the fine folks at both the Uxbridge and Scugog township offices. We can’t wait for the next “Coffee and Convos” at Community Cleaners (on upper Brock in Uxbridge) on Thursday, Sept. 11.

The main thing I want you to know is that I know my role on this big blue planet. It’s been made very clear to me that I am here to make sure that every business I work with feels safe, secure, and stable, and so, the North Durham Chamber of Commerce has undergone a major revamp, has introduced brand new programming and is highly engaged with the communities we serve.

As the months unfold, the Cosmos and the Chamber will be working together to give both businesses and residents in Uxbridge the chance to see the Chamber in action and to understand who we are and what we really do.
