New season starts for USS Tigers

Some Uxbridge Secondary School students will be returning to school early this year, but not to classes.

The Tigers football program begins next week with its annual camp and will see the addition of a senior team this year. The camp will run next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Tentative schedules for both teams include a Friday Night Homecoming game on Oct. 16.

Jeff Keeping will return as head coach, along with assistant coach Mike Kerford, but there will be several new coaches, including Greg Mazza, the grandson of legendary Tigers football coach Phil Mazza, and son of long-time Joseph Gould flag football coach, Sean Mazza.

Football returned to USS two years ago after a 13-year hiatus, but only ran a junior squad in those two seasons. Now, with enough eligible players, they will also be fielding a senior team.
