Embers plant tree for Earth Day

The 3rd Uxbridge Embers recently planted a tree as part of their Earth Day activities.
The group discussed as a whole what it wanted to do that could improve the planet, and the girls wanted to plant a tree and clean up trash. One of the Embers’ parent volunteers sits on the board of directors for the Uxbridge Cemetery, and the group thought that would be a good spot to plant the tree.
Somerville Nurseries generously donated a tree for the girls to plant, as well as saplings to plant at home.
The girls helped with the planting of the maple tree, and also planted their saplings in pots. They learned how to care for the saplings so they could grow them at home. The girls also spent some time cleaning up the garbage around the cemetery, and their efforts helped them earn their Planet Protector badge!
