Cooling centres now open

Although the summer’s first heat-wave may be over, more soaring temperatures can likely be expected during the upcoming summer months.

During such heat events, the Township of Uxbridge advises residents to stay hydrated, avoid over-exertion and to monitor the well-being of at-risk individuals such as young children, the elderly or those who have compromised health. 

According to the Township’s website, the Township has various facilities available to act as as cooling centres, and residents are invited to visit any of the following facilities:

  • Township Municipal Office (51 Toronto St. S., Uxbridge)

    • 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday

  • Uxbridge Public Library (9 Toronto St. S.)

    • Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

    • Tuesday, Thursday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

    • Sunday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Uxbridge Seniors Centre (75 Marietta St.)

    • Monday-Friday 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
