Concert considers what you wanted to be before growing up

A dinosaur expert who moonlights as an astronaut? A world-famous veterinarian with a weekend penchant for driving fast race cars?
On Saturday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m., at the Hope Church in Port Perry, the Uxbridge Community Concert Band (UCCB) presents a concert that considers all the things we dreamt of being before we were seduced into the roles of accountants, lawyers, retail marketing specialists and middle management.
The music celebrates the kinds of lives that enticed us in our youth: adventurers, doctors, actors, jet pilots, and even pirate captains! The UCCB invites you to its annual "Summer Evening" recital as its 31st summer season comes to its conclusion.
The UCCB is a community band that forms across three months in the summer, drawing players of all ages from across Uxbridge township, as well as wider boundaries on all sides, forming an wind orchestra of over 40 players. Their musical styles range from overtures to folk tunes, hymn settings to modern musical theatre classics, jazz standards to cinematic epics.
Tickets are $10 available at the door, $5 for students and seniors.
The Hope Church is located at 14480 Old Simcoe Road in Port Perry.
