‘Brook Never Sleeps’ flows again in November

The Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee’s (ESAC) Brook Never Sleeps workshop returns for another year of hands-on activities. This free, full-day interactive event offers local youth an opportunity to explore the ecology of the Uxbridge Brook in a fun and educational setting.

The workshop happens in the council chambers at Town Hall on Friday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Nov. 14 is a PA day for both elementary and high school students.) Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Designed for youth aged 10–14, participants will engage in a variety of activities, including trapping minnows, surveying the creek for benthic creatures, fly tying and casting, and learning about local watershed ecology. Scales Nature Park and Ontario Streams will also be there, and children will have the opportunity to engage and interact with live animals.

This year's workshop is made possible through partnerships with Scales Nature Park, Ontario Streams, Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, Bird Friendly Uxbridge, and the Township of Uxbridge.
